Before I first started paying attention to my health, mood, and overall wellbeing, the only way I was able to recharge was when I crash and burned. I used to have one day out of the entire month that I had absolutely no plans. I protected that day no matter what, and looked forward to it all month long.
There’s a better way than only having one day out of the month to recharge. Everyday does not need to be packed. Taking time for yourself to recharge is more important than producing results. Here’s 3 ways to know you need to recharge
You only have 0-1 free days in an entire month
Those of us with a uterus cycle around a 28 day basis. Each cycle has 4 parts. Our menstrual phase, the phase of rest is more than a day. Slow down and take time to rest during your cycle to feel more energized during your other phases. If you don’t have a cycle, try to clear out a few days around the new moon.
You’re getting impatient and easily irritated
When I don’t get enough time to clear my head, I get impatient and irritated at the world. For example, standing in line at checkout in a grocery store. When it takes longer than I expect it to, I sometimes get impatient. This is when I know I need time to sit down and do a brain dump, journal, or meditation.
You have a hard time waking up in the morning
If you’re hitting snooze multiple times and have to drag yourself out of bed, you know you’re tired. You’re not getting a good nights sleep, and your body isn’t operating at its best. When your body isn’t operating at its best, it affects your mood as well as performance. Stop looking at a screen at least an hour before bed. Give yourself 3 hours after dinner before you sleep. Prepare your outfit, bag, and whatever else you need when you leave the night before.
These are 3 signs of when I know I need to recharge. I’ve fallen for these mistakes more than once. I wish I can say I sleep better than ever but as a new mom, I sleep whenever I can in small doses.
