I used to be the person who felt like I’m being super good if I wiped my makeup with a baby wipe before going to bed. Or purposely leave a little bit of mascara so I can rub it in and call it a lazy smoky eye. Oh, the horror…
I’ve heard a lot and changed my habit since those days, and I’d like to share with you some Do’s and Don’ts for your skincare
Sleep in your makeup or sunscreen.
We’re all adults and we should know this one right? Of course, sleeping in your make-up one night won’t be the end of the world. Sleeping in your makeup clogs your pores and does not give your skin a chance to renew itself at night. So wash and moisturize that beautiful face of yours before you put your head on your pillow.
Use the wrong moisture level
I can’t decide which is worse… using a gel without enough moisture in the winter or using a heavy cream in the summer when it’s humid. When I went to Italy in late November the weather was much drier than I thought, and I only brought a gel with me. Oh, the number of times I had to reapply throughout the day.. Then there’s the time when I bought a heavy cream to an island vacation. Save yourself! The right product for the right season goes a LONG way!!
Slap toner on your face directly
The purpose of a toner is to get the drift and gunk off of your face and prepare the skin for all the moisture goodness that’s going to come afterward. This is why it is important to use the toner with a cotton pad to wipe it off, instead of simply splashing it on your skin. Even if you do make-up remover and face cleanser, it’s amazing that stuff keeps coming off.
Moisturize often especially when flying
I fly fairly often and the first thing that happens is DRY SKIN. I make sure to bring a facemask and my skincare goodies so I can re-apply throughout the flight.
Open the pores before exfoliation
Build up can happen inside of your pores pretty quickly, especially in the warmer months. Before you slather your face with scrub/exfoliant, warm your face up. This can be in a high humidity sauna, a tub, or a hot towel.
Signal your cells to create beauty from within
Beauty isn’t skin deep, it’s deeper. So your products should go deeper right? In an attempt to have awesome skin with minimal effort bc I will admit I’m super lazy.. I’ve spent a small fortune (let’s just say it was small) over the years. I was that girl that read the ingredients in EVERYTHING I put on my skin. A friend of mine introduced me to a line called Celavive and I’ll be honest, I was SUPER skeptical of an AMERICAN company putting out a skincare line that quote ‘works’. Also, most products made overseas smell super floral/perfumey for my liking. After finding out what’s exactly in these babies, they smell fresh and clean (aka not perfume), and they are MADE IN JAPAN I was sold! This line has ingredients that signal your cells and creates noticeably younger looking skin.
Bonus tip: Chill your eye cream in the fridge.
The coolness helps bring puffiness down and it feels DIVINE
