What’s on your non-negotiable list?
When I think of non-negotiables I think of things like birthdays, anniversaries, business seminars, weddings, and maternity leave.
I also have daily and weekly non-negotiable. For example my daily meditation practice, yoga practice and our weekly trip to the local hot springs that has a pretty awesome sauna.
Before we try to ADD more things onto your weekly to-do list. How about we try something different. This post is going to be a HANDS-ON kind of post.
Step 1: Design your ideal week
Take a blank piece of paper, and write down the entire week. I personally like Sunday-Saturday.
Think about all the things you’d love to do in a week. If you have a magic wand and can design your life the way you want it to, how will your week look like?
Maybe you want weekly yoga class. Maybe three times a week. Maybe you like movies and want to watch a movie every week. Maybe your schedule has eating out, hanging out with friends & family, spending quality time with your baby, working on your business. ANYTHING. Write it all down.
How would your IDEAL week look like? Do not sugar coat or water this down. We want the real deal here. Write it all down.

Step 2: Write out what your CURRENT week looks like.
All the fun stuff and not so fun stuff. If you have bi-weekly or monthly commitments, jot them down on the side.

Now you should have two weeks filled out. One ideal week, and another week which is your current reality.
Do you see any similarities?
Circle the items that are identical. It might not be many or any. That’s okay. We’ll slowly grow the circles 🙂
Step 3: Create space in your calendar
Now the fun part. Look at your current week, and cross out things you’d rather not do starting next week. Can some of the things, simply be canceled? For some, you may have already agreed to do it for a certain amount of time (a few weeks, or until the beginning of summer, etc). Do want you have to do, and don’t agree to the next round.
For each of the items you crossed out, write down what the commitment is. How much time and money are you spending on each of the items? Write down when the commitment is until.
If it’s something that costs you money, simply don’t renew it.
Pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself!
Making sure this goes into action will drastically change your state of overwhelm. More is simply not better when it comes to commitments. Make sure to have quality commitments that you 100% believe in. Slowly move the things that are not out of your life.
