Hydration. It’s important. Our bodies are made mostly from water, and when we don’t have enough water in our system things don’t run as smoothly. Dehydration causes headaches, dullness, slower bowel movements and many other things.
Duh, right? Some of us have a harder time drinking enough water. If that’s you, add lemon or fruit to make flavored water. I also like making detox drinks. When a beverage is tasty I tend to drink more of it.
Avoid coffee and tea
Hey, I love coffee and tea, although I live on the decaf wagon now. The reality is coffee and tea are both dehydrating. If you drink a cup, you’ll need to drink two cups of water two cups of water to make up for it. When you do reach for these tasty drinks, be sure you’re getting enough hydration before you’re going for seconds.
Eat foods cooked with water
This means soups, rice and steamed foods. Baked and fried foods have a lower water content. If you’re having a hard time eating your veggies too, making miso soups and minestrone is a great way to consume both. These soups are a staple in our home.
Bonus: take quality supplements
You’ll need to drink water when you swallow the supplements, right? My husband and I have increased our water intake since we started taking these. Not only does it support our bodies function better, you get your water intake too. Two birds with one stone. I’m all for that.
