I heard of this concept of a detox tea before. Where my mom is from, Okinawa has the ultimate detox tea. Turmeric tea. She sends me packets of it every few months. It’s one of those things where it’s an acquired taste. Not many people like the taste right off the bat.
Whenever I feel like my system needs a good flush and a good healthy kick in my tummy I make a batch of this stuff up. Perfect for when I’m about to come down with a cold, or had a little too much bubbly. I made it a few times at a friends house, and every single time I get asked for the recipe. Since I keep talking about the recipe I thought I’d share it with the you on the blog.
Ingredients:
1 Turmeric tea pack or 3 tablespoons turmeric powder
2 tablespoons of freshly chopped ginger
1 stick of cinnamon (broken in half)
1 spoon honey (or agave syrup)
1 lemon
1L hot water
Step 1:
Combine all ingredients in a temperature resistant jar or pot.
Step 2:
Make sure the honey dissolves completely.
Step 3:
Drink!
I like it hot in the winter, and cold in the summer 😃
