Hey there! Today I’d like to talk about some delicious non-alcoholic beverages that will spice up your day. Did you know that if you drink a cup of coffee, soda, alcohol, basically anything that’s not water, you need two cups of water to make up for your body’s hydration level? So if you’re drinking coffees and soda all day long, that’s probably one reason you constantly feel thirsty.
I’d like to share three yummy drink ideas with you that you can have throughout your day.
1. Warm lemon + cayenne water
I start most mornings with a cup of hot water and a squeeze of lemon and some pepper. It’s a great way to kick-start your system. Lemons help stimulate digestion, improves absorption of minerals, promotes weight loss, cleanses the blood, improves blood pressure and helps weak blood vessels. While cayenne increases metabolism and it’s actually great for heartburn. What’s not to love?
Instructions:
Step 1. Make hot water in a kettle
Step 2. Squeeze some lemon juice into a mug
Step 3. Add a dash of cayenne
Step 4. Pour water in 1/3 of the mug, and 2/3 hot water into the rest of the mug
Step 5. Sip and enjoy
My fav time to drink this: mornings
2. Strawberry + Lemon Infused Water
Strawberries have always been one of my favorite fruits, and they pack a pretty awesome punch of benefits. These berries are packed with antioxidants, helps boost your immune system and helps maintain normal blood pressure. Pair it with lemon for extra awesomeness!
Pro tip: cut the skin and the white stuff off of the lemon.
A little backstory when I got my fruit infuser water bottle from a recent retreat.
I came home SUPER excited to out my new bottle. The first recipe I tried out was lemons and a half a cinnamon stick. I packed the ingredients into my infuser bottle and took it along for a mini road trip. About 3 hours later I took a sip expecting sour and spicy DELICIOUSNESS making me want to chug the entire thing in one sitting. And then, I nearly spit it all out. It was so bitter and gross.
You see, the rind, the outer skin of the lemon released the bitterness into my water. I was so sad about my major failed experiment.
When I was testing this recipe out, I was cutting the skin off of the lemon.
My husband walked by and said ‘Oh! You learned!’
Me: 😒😒😒
I left it in the fridge overnight and checked it out in the morning. OH MAH GAWD it’s so delicious I nearly drank the entire bottle I made while standing in the kitchen. You gotta try this
Instructions:
Step 1. Slice two handfuls of strawberries
Step 2. Cut off the rind of half a lemon slice
Step 3. Put in an infuser bottle (or a normal bottle) with about 500ml water
Step 4. Let it sit for a few hours in the fridge
Step 5. Try not to inhale the entire thing at once
My fav time to drink this: during the day
3. Make detox tea
You know what. I’m gonna be talking about this again and again and again. Seriously this is my go-to.
Want a detox? Want a hot beverage after having wine? Have a hangover? Go make this tea. The recipe is here: How to make your own detox tea.
