The second Niyama is Santosha
It literally means to ‘contentment’, ‘know when you have enough’.
We, humans, are greedy beings. Whenever there’s a new phone, we want it even though we have a working phone. When the season changes we want new clothes. We find any reason to get something new, something we don’t have.
In the age of social media, it’s very easy to compare your life with someone else’s. We need to remember that most people only put the highlights of their life on Instagram. Only the pretty parts are visible, the effort they put in and the hardships cannot be seen, and we compare that with our entire lives.
Sometimes we do get tired. That’s because we are looking for happiness outside of ourselves. Once we look inward, it’s easier to be happy with what we currently have.
