Self-care is an important part of living life in current times. Without refreshment, nourishment, and realigning our energy, it’s easy to get sucked into the spiral of toxic productivity.
Guilt is the fuel that society uses keep us going
Why are you feeling guilty spending a little time for yourself? Is it because you think you should be doing something more productive, or for someone else? Or is it because society gives out badges of honor for our busy-ness? If you’re doing something because someone is giving you a guilt trip about it, it’s definitely time to do something different.
You can’t give from an empty cup
Just like on airlines you’re told to put your own mask on before helping others, you can’t help others when you’re running low on fumes. Our loved ones, our work, our jobs will greatly benefit from us being fully charged and capable of bringing our best selves forward.
Rest needs to be your first priority
I know you have goals in life. I do too. But we must make our first priorities rest. Doing stuff is easy when all the messaging we get is pushing us to move forward, to do more, to check more boxes off. Of course all of that is important, but if your sacrificing your wellbeing sooner or later you’ll burn out.
Remember, take care of yourself. Take a nap. Go to bed early. Do not overbook your calendar. Does that sound overwhelming to you? Don’t worry, I’ve been there too. That’s why I made the Self-Care guide to help you. Don’t forget to grab it today.
